Position Summary

Health Access Foundation seeks a dedicated and energetic candidate to join our team as a Program Coordinator.

Working as part of a team, the Program Coordinator will add capacity to a multi-year health reform campaign by building communications and narrative change strategies on behalf of health consumer advocates and Health Access partner organizations. Their work would seek to benefit the goals of the broader health consumer advocacy community and movement.

The Program Coordinator will have experience developing strong messaging and engaging audiences across digital and traditional media platforms. Ability to coordinate diverse partners across the state towards a larger shared goal. Strong communication skills, work ethic, and passion for health care access are essential.

The position will have a hybrid work structure, with work completed both remotely, and from one of Health Access’s statewide offices. This position will include occasional travel throughout California, including overnight trips, and will be directly supervised by the Program Manager.

Specific responsibilities include

  • Provide programmatic support for the TCE Social Bond project
  • Coordinate logistics for virtual, in-person, and hybrid meetings/events including venue research, scheduling invitations, reminders, and follow-ups
  • Support the facilitation of meetings, including agenda development, preparing materials, and taking note of action items
  • Serve as a point of contact for program-related activities and inquiries
  • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including coalition members, partners, and other external stakeholders
  • Support the management of program calendar, ensuring key deadlines and activities are scheduled and tracked
  • Support with communications and projects to advance program goals including drafting and updating website content, newsletters, and other communications materials
  • Support contracts, reporting, and grant deliverables as needed
  • Perform administrative duties such as scheduling, creating surveys, compiling data, preparing materials for meeting and events, and maintaining documentation for projects
  • As necessary, research, design, and conduct issues and skills trainings to related to health advocacy and specific program goals;
  • Identify additional health consumer organizations and reach out to potential new coalition partners; maintain the broad diversity of organizations participating in program activities;
  • Provide support to other projects and/or programs as needed
  • Participate in and provide updates during staff calls and board meetings;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Strong organizational skills, ability to stay focused with attention to detail while working on multiple projects;
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations.
  • Skilled at electronic communications and social media (Facebook and Twitter); proficient with Microsoft Office and Zoom; quick to learn new technologies;
  • Skills designing flyers, PowerPoint slides, and/or social media graphics through programs like Canva
  • An independent thinker, self-motivated, problem solver, and team player, with a commitment to excellence;
  • Commitment to inclusive, multi-cultural programming; prior experience working within coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of intersectional oppressions;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of personalities;
  • Must be able to meet deadlines, be responsive, and demonstrate excellent communication skills;
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and county policies regarding health care a plus;
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office environment);
  • Valid California Drivers’ License
  • Bi-lingual skills a plus but not required.
  • Able to participate in some overnight travel

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud, as multiple telephone conversations and normal office equipment continue throughout the day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This is a full-time position that may require work outside of the typical 9-5 workday (i.e., weekend and evening events). Work may be completed remotely, and/or from Health Access offices.

Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated salary range is $68,000 – $74,000. However, depending on qualifications, a successful candidate can be hired above or below this range.
