JOSE TORRES CASILLAS (He/Him), Policy and Legislative Advocate, joined Health Access in 2017. Jose was born in Jalisco, Mexico and raised in San Bernardino, California before moving to the Sacramento area. He works on Medi-Cal related policies and improving health care access to undocumented individuals in the state.
Jose received his B.A. in Sociology with a minor in Chicanx Studies from the University of California, Davis. Jose earned his Master’s in Public Administration from the University of the Pacific. Prior to joining Health Access, Jose worked for the CA State Senate and the California Democratic Party.
Jose enjoys lifting weights for fun, playing video games, and trying different foods as a self-described foodie.
