Know Your Rights–Health Care Edition

February 21, 2025

No one should have to choose between their health and their safety. But with recent reports of ICE raids, many in our communities are afraid to seek the care they need. Let’s be clear: you still have the right to access health care—and knowing your rights is the first step in protecting yourself and your loved ones. We’ve put together a comprehensive resource guide to help you navigate these challenges:

Resources for Community

  • Health Insurance and Health Care Rights for Immigrants (National Immigration Law Center)
  • Video tutorials: What to do when encountering ICE (We Have Rights)
  • Find legal help (Immigration Advocates Network)
  • Print red cards (Immigrant Legal Resource Center)
  • Immigration preparedness work sheet (Immigrant Legal Resource Center)
  • Report ICE activity in your area (California Collaborative for Immigrant Justice)

Resources for Providers

  • Guide to Promoting Safe and Secure Health Care Access for All (Attorney General Rob Bonta)
  • Health Care Providers and Immigration Enforcement: Know Your Rights; Know Your Patients’ Rights (National Immigration Law Center)
  • Provider Resources (Everyone Belongs Here)
