2024 California Ballot Propositions

Proposition 3: Freedom to Marry

This proposition removes the discriminatory vestiges of Prop 8 (2008) from the California Constitution restoring marriage equality for all, regardless of gender, race, or ethnicity.

Marriage has clear health coverage impacts, as often health insurance and benefits can only be accessed through marriage. With federal protections uncertain, California should enshrine this right into our Constitution to protect the right to same-sex marriage in and secure a future for all families.

Health Access hosts the California LGBTQ HHS Network, an active co-sponsor of Prop 3. Learn more about their support of Prop 3.

Proposition 32: Raise CA Minimum Wage to $18 an hour

A living wage for families has a clear positive impact on social determinants of health: housing, food, utilities, educational opportunities, retirement and more. More financial security means more ability to get health care coverage and access health care resources from appointments to prescription drugs.

This particularly will help communities that traditionally have been unable to access robust health care benefits such as people of color, LGTBQ+ folks, seniors, and people with disabilities.

Earning a wage that can ensure that you and your family stay healthy has clear benefits for our state’s communities and economy.
