Another Bad Idea comes to roost.

A story in today’s Monterey County Herald says more businesses are picking up on Health Savings Account – High Deductible Plan trend, and as many as 25 percent are thinking of offering such plans during this year’s open enrollment period for 2008, according to the recent Kaiser Family Foundation employer benefits survey.

HSAs are like 401ks from a century ago — they take businesses off the hook for providing loyal workers with a set pension after they retire. HSAs allow businesses to shift the risk and cost of illness to their worker.
