Health reform is steaming right along.
A new Field Poll on health reform came out showing that a solid majority of Californians are supportive of health reform, 52%-38%. In fact, 58% of voters believe it is a first step and more changes to our health system are needed, as reported by Bobby Caina Calvan in the Sacramento Bee, Daniel Weintraub in HealthyCal.org, and other outlets.
The California legislature is taking heed. Today, with the passage of SB1163(Leno) out of the Senate, the California legislature passed out of the first house all the bills we identified as either implementing or improving health reform, including bills to create and exchange, standardize benefits, and regulate rates.
This is real momentum for a better health system.
