Former Congressman and gubernatorial candidate Tom Campbell put forward his budget proposal, which largely was an edit of the Governor’s May Revise last week. For him and all his fellow gubernatorial candidates, it shows that without new, long-term revenues, the budget will be very, very ugly.
That said, he is rejecting (emphasis and comments his): the Governor’s proposed $125 million Medi-Cal exclusions for LEGAL immigrants, denying them all but emergency services. (I encourage, recourse against the legal immigrants’ sponsors for these costs, but denying services jeopardizes all Californians.) $120.2 million food assistance for LEGAL immigrants. (Same reason.)
Interesting that he, with a drastically bad budget, feels some of these cuts go too far.
