Covered California is open for business!
Despite multiple attacks from the Trump Administration and Congress, the Affordable Care Act remains the law of the land. Our state-based health care exchange, Covered California, is here to help you find needed care and coverage.
We know there’s a lot of confusion out there, but consumers should not be scared off by premium increases at first glance. Almost 90% of people in Covered California receive subsidies to help pay for their care. Also, thanks to steps taken by the state, California consumers will not feel the effects of the “Trump Tax” – the 12% surcharge caused by President Trump’s action to defund cost-sharing discounts. California’s marketplace also remains strong, with 11 participating plans, and most Californians having 2 or more plans to choose from.
California’s open enrollment began on November 1st, 2017 and will run until January 31, 2018. However, you are encouraged to sign up by December 15th for coverage to begin on January 1, 2018. See the resources below to help reduce any confusion and help sign up for health care coverage.
