Health Reform Had a Big Year-Your #GivingTuesday Donation Can Make More Progress

Dear Friends:

As we look back on a landmark year of real results for California’s health care consumers, we invite you to invest this “Giving Tuesday” in our ongoing work on health reform and more (donate now).

Health Access has had a remarkable year achieving important victories—from new patient protection legislation for accurate provider directories and reasonable cost sharing on specialty medications to expanding Medi-Cal coverage to all California children and extending safety-net care for many adults regardless of immigration status. Through a new Medicaid waiver and pending bills and ballot measures, we are making headway on efforts to improve access, quality, equity and value in our health system (read our 2015 Year in Review here).

But we have so much more to do to achieve the promise of health reform and to extend its reach to more Californians. With your support, we can pass other key consumer protections and transparency and accountability measures to reduce the cost of coverage while improving quality and reducing health disparities. As the Affordable Care Act comes under attack in the 2016 election season, we will need to tell California’s story of success—both in implementing the law and going further to address local priorities for reform–from extending coverage further to include all Californians, to overseeing insurance company mergers, to stopping “surprise bills” from harming families’ financial security.

To do this work and do it well, we need your help (donate now). In this season of giving we hope you will consider a year-end donation to Health Access. As foundations cut back on their investment in health reform implementation, your support will help us build on our remarkable progress over recent years. Make your donation count by giving to Health Access (click here to donate using our secure PayPal platform).

Wishing you good health in the coming year,

Anthony Wright and Everyone at Health Access
