Yesterday in Los Angeles, hundreds of advocates came together at a rally to protect Californian’s health from policies proposed by the Trump Administration. Just from repealing the Affordable Care Act, California stands to lose over $20.5 billion a year in funding — $15.5 billion for Medi-Cal, and $5 billion in Covered California subsidies for Californians to better afford health coverage. The health care of millions of Californians is now at risk–not just those gaining coverage under the ACA, but those in Medi-Cal and Medicare as well. Health care workers, nurses, advocates, and patients were joined by California Senate Pro Tempore Kevin DeLeon, Secretary of State Alex Padilla, and Chair of the California Senate Committee on Health, Dr. Ed Hernandez to speak in support of programs that have helped make California healthier.
