Goals

Quality, Affordable Health Care for ALL Californians

Our Core Mission

  • Preserving access to care – Health Access has been a leader in the budget battles of the last decade, working to protect public health coverage programs like Medicaid (Medi-Cal), and Medicare, and our safety-net institutions. Health Access works to improve and strengthen these programs and services, making sure they have the funding they need to survive and thrive.
  • Protecting consumers – Health Access is committed to making sure that every Californian can get the care they need when and where they need it, without financial or administrative barriers. Health Access develops and advocates for patient protections so consumers can have confidence in their care and coverage and to stop insurers or providers from denying care or overcharging for it. Focusing on cost, quality, and access, this core initiative includes a strategic combination of administrative advocacy around various state agencies, legislative advocacy, and public education.
  • Expanding coverage and winning comprehensive health reform – Health Access has, since its inception, been focused on expanding health coverage, building on public programs, employer-based benefits, or through a more universal, single-payer approach. Health Access has worked to win comprehensive health reform at the state and federal level, and is committed to implementing and improving upon the Affordable Care Act.
